Participant’s guide


Online registration will end August, 5th at midnight

Note that the WSF pass is mandatory to participate to all the week activities. Registration points will be held at different locations on the World Social Territory. The cost is 40$ CAD (possibility of solidarity rate).


As of August 8th, participants that have already registered and payed online can retrieve their pass at the Agora of the Judith-Jasmin pavilion at the Université du Québec à Montréal (405, Sainte-Catherine E.), metro level from 8am to 6pm.

Local transportation (see the map)


STM: It is possible to buy a weekly pass in the metro stations.

Taxi: many taxi companies serve Montreal and the surrounding areas

Bixi: It is possible to pay for one’s transport at the terminals of the bicycles.

Cloakroom? There will not be a cloakroom on the WSF grounds.

Wifi connection? The majority of the WSF 2016 spaces will have Wifi connection.

Where to eat? Wing A’s cafeteria of UQAM, metro level. Cafeteria of the Vieux-Montreal Cegep, 4th floor. As the events are mostly taking place in downtown Montreal, you will have access to special prices in certain restaurants of the surrounding areas.

Access to water? We naturally encourage you to bring your own bottle of water. In case you forget to do so, you may always purchase a bottle from a local restaurant. There are also water fountains that exist in most of the spaces of the WSF 2016 grounds.

Payment modes? Cash only.

Washrooms: In certain places, acess is possible to people with disabilities and gender neutral washrooms are available.

What does my registration give me access to? You will have access to all of the self-managed activities, to the great conferences, to the convergence assembles and to all the spaces of the World Social Forum territory.

What to do in case of an emergency? Get in the contact with the volunteer that is closest to you. If you are not able to find a volunteer, contact a security guard. Ultimately, contact the emergency services by calling 911.

What to do in case of a medical emergency? If it is a minor injury, talk to a volunteer or a rescuer. If it is a major injury, contact the emergency services by calling 911.

Waiver concerning audio and visual recordings

The WSF 2016 retains the right to publish and to transmit the recordings of its activities on TV, by satellite, by cable, on the Internet and by any other means of communication. The WSF 2016 also retains the right to take pictures during the event and to use them for promotional purposes. By presenting yourself at the WSF, you accept to be filmed, photographed or recorded. You also recognize that the WSF 2016 and its partner are allowed to use these sounds and these pictures for promotional purposed in the entire world.
