Punarjani Project – Rejuvenation of natural resources with community participation – Kerala, India by AREED NGO (FRANCE)

Discussion workshop
Aug 11 2016  9:00 - 11:30

Punarjani is originally a tsunami rehabilitation project with special focus on rejuvenation of natural resources with community participation in the state of Kerala, India.

After the completion of Tsunami rehabilitation activities, the project is now focusing on the conservation and up keeping of natural resources with the active involvement of the community (inhabitants, women groups, child forums) and the local governments.

The main objective is to protect the natural resources and notably water sources from contamination due to poor sanitation and lack of scientific waste management. By empowering the local community and especially the women and children, the project is ensuring the development and sustainability of eco-friendly habitats and good hygiene practices.
