Indigenous Peoples Struggles and Resistance. Building Solidarity for Land, Self-Determination and Justice.

Discussion workshop
Aug 10 2016 - Aug 11 2016  9:00 - 11:30

The activity shall involved speakers representing the global regions with 2 of the speakers also representing the indigenous women and the youth. The sharing shall focus on the struggles and resistance of Indigenous Peoples across the globe to defend indigenous territories and ways of life.

The speakers can include a short video (3 minutes) before they speak. Photographs and materials on Indigenous Peoples struggles, resistance, and alternatives might be on display during the activity.

A synthesis that shall reveal the continuing non-recognition of Indigenous Peoples in many parts of the world, the continuing and expanding expropriation of indigenous lands, territories and waters and resources for capitalist profit, utter disregard for traditional life ways, the unending violations on Indigenous Peoples’ human rights and the like.

It shall also be a space for indigenous peoples to gather and learn, and coordinate for ways forward in advancing Indigenous Peoples’ grassroots movement for self-determination and disseminating alternatives of equity, and development justice.

A call to action to express solidarity between Indigenous Peoples and other similarly oppressed and exploited peoples and groups or a expression of support to a specific campaign.

We are open to co-host the activity with other organizations.
